The Pink Tower is one of the first and best-loved Montessori sensorial materials. Ten pink wooden cubes, from 1 cm to 10 cm, invite your child to build a tower from largest to smallest and to notice the difference in size with their eyes and hands.
What's in the box
- 10 pink wooden cubes, from 1 cubic centimetre to 1 cubic decimetre (10 × 10 × 10 cm)
- Each cube is 1 cm larger than the one before in every dimension
What your child learns
-
Visual discrimination: sees differences in size across three dimensions
-
Early maths: lays the groundwork for ordering, sequencing and the decimal system
-
Hand control and concentration: carrying and placing each cube carefully builds coordination and focus
-
Vocabulary: big, bigger, biggest; small, smaller, smallest
How to use it
Lay the cubes out on a mat. Your child builds the tower starting with the largest cube and finishing with the smallest. Once confident, try building a horizontal stair, or hand them the smallest cube to find it by size alone.
